Digipak Analysis

This is my final Digipak draft; in this the same dark background theme with gold and colourful writing runs throughout it.
This digipak relates well to the pop-dance genre convention; the bright colours relate to pop whilst the darkness to dance. In this digipak the colours such as red, connote danger and love, whilst other colours like blue relates to our youth and diversion.

The layout is very simple as I like the idea of having single and group shows, and finding ways to link them together. This is my opinion helps to demonstrate the artists as a band as well as individuals.
As the backgrounds are very simple, I wanted the artists to be the main focus rather than the art work appealing to our audience. And for this reason that their simplicity mixed with their strong personalities shines through the images, as it will appeal to our target market  due to them being portrayed as fun but with vulgar.
The font that I have chosen relates well to both genres as it is young, vibrant. By using different fonts, it helped to relate to the individual genre but also helped to make the digipak more interesting and appealing to the eye.
A couple of things that may need improvement are the images that I have chosen as not all are photo-shopped well enough, whilst in others the arms are not in the frame of the photograph.
Alternative effects could have been used throughout the digipak in order to have a variety and to "spice-up" some slides which may be too simple in order to create more of a dance convention.

In this digipak Ellie has really incorporate a girlie theme with the use of pinks and purples, although including dance conventions by using darker colours which give a feeling of night and parties.
To start with I would change the typography in the final slide (track-list) as the name of the songs are not very clear, although I like the way she included a spiral and how the names get smaller. I think this conveys perfectly with both of our genres and the design is fun and different and the gradient background represents the night and the day mixing together.
I am also intrigued by the CD ROM as the lightening due to the pink it almost resembles feathers, which connotes strength, power and delicateness simultaneously. I think this is a perfect representation of us as a girl band.
I also really like Ellie's choice of images as they portray us as fun but especially emphasises on our friendship.   Although some of her slides, for example the second slide is very plain and maybe more effects should have been added to make it more eye-catching.
Overall Ellie has completed a successful digipak as it conveys to our music genre and it portrays us in a fun, young but classy manner.
A criticism of this digi-pak is that in my opinion it would not be appealing to our target audience, as young adults/teenagers are through that stage of maturity and would be more attracted by something with more sophistication rather than a digipak which looks more girlie and childish which is portrayed by the colour pink.

Jenna in her digipak has used a majority of pink which associates well with the fact that we are a girl band.
I like the way the digipak looks like a sketchbook as it really conveys to the pop characteristics; this is an innovative and up-to-date idea, which also helps to establish the artists.
The CD ROM is also done very accurately as it is very simple and the font used is word-perfect to the image we are trying to portray; girlie and non vulgar.
All-embracing Jenna has created a successful digipak as it conducts well our genre conventions and also represents us perfectly.
A criticism of this digipak is that it does not consider our target audience as the colour pink is too childish and girlie for young adults/teenagers. This is because they would be appealed by a more mature digipak, which states elegance but at the same time party-life.

Selina in her digipak has decided to use pastel colours, giving it a feminine look. By using certain effect on Photoshop such as the eyelash brush, showed her skill that she had developed and the way she associated to our song choice by using voyeurism  The colours such as green, pink, black and gold are contrasting depicting that chic look that we are trying to portray.
Even her choice of typography is very feminine and stylish and in my opinion her strong points are her album cover and CD-ROM as they look realistic and portrays us perfectly.
Although this digipak does not consider our target demographic as young adults would not be appealed by this is it may be too childish, whilst a more mature and maybe sophisticated look may have appealed to them furthermore.
An other criticism of this digipak may be that maybe Selina should have spent more time on ensuring that the images used very more refined around the edges.

  1. This post demonstrates some group planning and discussions, which is evident through the similar designs that you and your group have included above.

You have analysed the various digipaks well and you have also considered the strengths and changes too. Your other post on your final design, helps to show understanding of the design that you and your group decided on submitting
