Storyboards

As part of the planning of our music video, we were supposed to make a storyboard. This was used in order for us to pre-visualise our music video, in the form of illustrations; making the process of filming much
quicker.
As we progressed into the music video, we changed the storyboard as our ideas developed, in order to make this music video more concept and performance based; conveying to the dance-pop genre conventions.
In the club shots with the artists dancing, we planned to use low key lighting, as it  helped to make the scene higher in verisimilitude, helping create the effect of a real club. The green lighting connotes to the start of life and youth whilst the red, danger and the end. The sparkling dresses convey to the genre conventions of dance.

As most of our shots were filmed outdoors we used natural lighting, as it related to the concept of nature and life; especially when we filmed in the forest or in the field as the lighting really tied in well in this location. The costumes were casual, showing us in a more natural way, so that the audience could also relate to us as normal everyday girls.
The scenes where, us girls, were playing together, portrayed us in the most natural manner as we wanted to highlight our friendship, by using minimal make-up and black and white clothing; the setting was just simply a playing-yard, as it would help focus on us rather than what was surrounding us.

The shots which we filmed at the Embankment, we decided to film in the night, as the flashing lights would have had a bigger impact on our target audience as it would have been more appealing and eye-catching.
We also decided to use fireworks and club lights to help maintain the party atmosphere and the concept of youth throughout the music video.

  1. This post shows some understanding of why storyboards are important to a production. You have started to explain why you and your group decided on making the neccessary changes to your first plans and why you created a second plan. You have also explained some of your reasons well, but aim to relate these points back to the codes and conventions of your music genre.

Did you follow this final storyboard, or did you make more changes?

Also aim to include your first storyboards too
