Planning Cinematography
Cinematography
Cinematography is also known as the art of motion pictures photography. Having different shots in a music video helps the audience to see what they should focus on, so for example a clode up may emphasis the emotions of the artist.

An extreme close up is when a small part of the object or person is focused in the frame and usually enlarged; this is done so that the audience can generate a more intimate affiliation with the object or person. In this music video we decided to focus on the artists eyes, as we believe are one of the most significant shots in the video, as it relates well with our main theme which is "to search" as the artists are searching for a man who can look after them; making their eyes a simile of their heart which is searching. This shot will benefit our music video as by framing an eye can be the connotation of voyeurism.

A close up focuses on a certain object, most commonly a person's head, as it helps to show the most detail in comparison to all other shots. This helps the audience to really relate to the artists as their facial expressions comes through better in this particular shot. It also helps to show the audience the make-up and hairstyles the artists have, establishing their styles as artists but also helping to create genre characteristics. In my production this shot will be essential especially when the artists are singing as they're emotions can be shown clearly to the audience.
In a long shot the person or object is the main subject of the frame, as they are completely seen from head to toe. We decided to use long shots in our music video, as it helps the audience to feel involved with the artists as the can see their full image and also the surroundings, making them more aware of what is about to happen. Long shot are usually used in action scenes as the audience can get can a whole image of the environs whilst also focusing on the artists.
In an extreme long shot the person or object is small in the frame, as it usually focuses on the surroundings and emphasises on the environment the artists are against to help create a certain mood or emotion. In the music video that my group and I have planned, we decided to use extreme long shots as it would help the audience to understand better the surroundings in which the artists are, helping them to understand better the narrative and concept that we are trying to portray. As the audience also feels involved, as they are "spying" on the artists (Goodwin's Theory - Voyeurism) as they assist at the change of the setting they can understand that the artists are depicting that they are searching for this man everywhere.
An establishing shot it is generally used at the start of a video as it helps to set the scene. We decided to use this shot in our music video as it helps to emphasise that it will be hard to find this "perfect" man as the Earth is big. These are usually are very wide or extremely wide shots.

In a medium shot the object or person is seen from a medium distance, as it is the shot between a long shot and a close up. In this shot, usually a person is seen from the torso upwards, this helps the audience to focus on the artist's, not only facial expressions but also body language.
You have made a start in defining the different camera shots well and you have also considered the different styles that you wish to include within your production. But further analysis is needed by considering your narrative in more detail, by discussing how the styles will benefit your production
