Photo-shoot
Photo-shoot Analysis
It was essential to carryout a photo-shoot in order to have a wider choice of images to choose from for our advert and digi-pak. By taking different kind of pictures i.e. funny photos or single shots and group pictures gave us the opportunity to widen the image that we are trying to portray. So for example; by using group pictures we can portray to the audience that “Chic” are a united group of friends who are very loyal to each other. Whilst single photos, help to portray each member of the band’s individuality.
Doing a photo-shoot has also been essential, as it has thought us different frame works, which we will hopefully find useful during the filming of our music video.
These photos could be used in our digi-pak as it shows our personalities as fun loving and joyful, helping us to relate to the audience, by portraying ourselves as ordinary girls, wearing simple black dresses and who do not wear much jewellery. This kind of photo could not have been used on the front cover of our digi-pak or for our advert as it doesn't show the band as a whole.
Whilst this picture is more serious, it shows us smiling rather than behaving in a jocular manner. This is a photo that could be used in our digi-pak, as all of the members of the band are visible. Although I wouldn't personally use it in our advert, as it portrays the band in too much of a non de-script way for an advert or even album cover. I believe that more of our personalities should be portrayed in order to connect better to our target audience.
The photos I decided to use for my first draft of the album cover, establishes us a fun loving and confident girl band. Each member of the band was assigned a specific letter, which if put in order would spell out our group name “C.H.I.C”.
In this photo the "C" was later on photo-shopped in as we found it difficult to draw my tongue on with a marker -pen. |
The individual images were more adapted to our album cover as it in some way helped to portray our distinct personalities. They also showed us as fun loving, as well as a more feminine and flirtatious side of our personality. As we have to create more than one draft for our album cover, we shot different styles for our single photos, to allow us a wider range of ideas for our final album cover.
Whilst looking through our pictures we found one that we thought would be good for our advert; however there was a problem as only three of the girls were shown in these pictures. I then decided to photo-shop Ellie (the missing girl) into the picture; this took a lot of trials and patients to make sure that she looked like she had originally been in the picture. Even though many errors occurred during my experiments, I finally managed to find the right formation and image to make the picture look as professionally done as possible.
This post demonstrates a sound analysis of what a photo-shoot is and how it benefited your production. You have considered the choices of your photos and also where you can place them within your productions.
